Minimalist Kitchen Design

Details

This design required the removal of a wall between the kitchen and the living area to create the illusion of more space.

Instead of creating a U or L shaped design with the usual lower and upper wall cabinets, we covered one wall with shallow kitchen units while leaving the opposite wall empty of upper cabinets. Doing this makes the space look bigger and allows the counter to be extended into  the living area to function as a breakfast bar. We used stainless steel for the cooking area and wood on the breakfast-bar/preparation area.

The U shaped recess allows the spaces to flow from one to the other, whilst providing a shelf for snacks or artifacts.

We also employed the concept of zoning, whereby we created areas  according to the client’s lifestyle – one for juicing and the other for tea/coffee making. One of cupboards next to these areas can accommodate mugs & cups, the other one various teas, coffees etc.
